Mel Tessness Music

Mel is a modern singer song writer who feels a deep connection to his roots in a small town in South
Dakota. His family, although not affluent, was rich in music history. The family, a hard working, blue
collar, salt of the earth bunch used music for fun, entertainment and family connection. Mel's father and
most of his relatives played multiple instruments and often got together on Saturday night to play
music, eat, have fun and entertain each other. Mel began joining in with his guitar at an early age and
was a regular by the age of thirteen. Of course the type of music played was mostly old time traditional
country. It is this early indoctrination to home spun music played in the living room that greatly
influenced Mel's musical style over the years. You will find this music fresh with a traditional
country/bluegrass flavor. The songs paint a picture and tell a story, some will make you laugh and
others will touch your heart with the type of real life experience we all can relate to.
